Sustainable laminates tested
Ever since its establishment in 1965, Universal Pack’s main investments have been concerning all those processes related to R&D. While most investments in our sector are addressed to product innovation, Universal Pack has also been working hard to promote process innovation. As a result, Universal Pack created an in-house laboratory in order to support engineering process with methodical scientific research, and keeps on investing to improve research quality.
Building a packaging machine or a packaging line requires lots of steps to be carried out and a number of tests on different components to be run. For this reason, process optimization allows to ensure maximum quality during machine design and manufacturing operations.
Every packaging machine is unique: we design each machine according to your needs, in terms of laminates and products. We always test your product and laminate to provide you with the most suitable solution.
Why are we considered packaging scientists?
Universal Pack runs all the tests on your product and laminate in its in-house laboratory. We have progressively built up this department throughout the years by investing substantial amounts of money. Universal Pack Laboratory lies at the core of project management and design review, as the whole engineering process is always backed up by science principles used to meticulously analyze various aspects. As a result of many years of experience, we are not only packaging experts at your service, but even experienced packaging scientists. You can benefit from many advantages through a scientific approach to project management, such as:
Rapid identification of critical aspects of the project;
Better understanding of customer’s needs, based on scientific data about product and laminate;
Substantially reduced time to accomplish the project design.
What tests can we run in our laboratory?
We analyze every product and laminate in our internal laboratory. You can benefit from microbiological and microchemical tests, to better know some aspects such as:
Product specifications, possible for any kind of product (powders and granules, viscous and liquids, pastes etc.)
Laminate micro-characteristics, including ad-hoc scientific analysis for eco-friendly, recyclable and compostable films.
We customize every test according to your needs, products and laminates.
Moreover, Universal Pack can be your partner in launching new products. We can test your product under development on our dosing systems and help you analyze its behavior during packaging operations. You can rely on our state-of-the-art stock machines, specifically-dedicated and built for development processes.
Following this direction, we can test the machinability of your laminates directly on our stock machines. With regard to the laminates, Universal Pack Laboratory is analyzing and testing a great variety of eco-friendly, recyclable and compostable laminates. In addition to that, we also develop new sustainable laminates in collaboration with different multinational paper mills.
Our vision is to combine the caring for our planet with high quality in packaging operations.
Why are white rooms important for the packaging tests?
In its headquarter and manufacturing site, Universal Pack has been creating new spaces and rooms dedicated to machinery tests, which need accurately controlled atmosphere. For this reason, we can set specific temperatures, humidity and pressure levels in these so-called “white rooms”. But what are white rooms for?
Many pharmaceutical powders and liquids need to be tested in white rooms, in order to guarantee the quality of testing operations. Whether heat-sensitive or hygroscopic, we run multiple tests, setting the temperature and humidity levels required by your product. Also, why does Universal Pack need white rooms?
Thanks to its consolidated experience in the single dose packaging sector with major pharmaceutical and food companies, Universal Pack has been specializing in solutions for the packaging of any kind of sensitive products, which require dedicated rooms with controlled atmosphere.
